Another comment on Gretchen’s recommendations in “The Happiness Project”.
She suggests going to bed early by 9:30. Even if work permits that, I’ve found that to be virtually impossible. 10 is the earliest that I’ve managed, though it still gets one get up relatively early, at 5:30 or so.
And because I can’t resist her great quotes, I have to quote Samuel Johnson on Alexander Pope: “Pope’s scorin of the Great is too often repeated to be real; no man thinks much of that which he despises.”
It has echoes in another one of my favorite books, Dale Carnegie’s “How to Stop Worrying And Start Living”, noting that “no one ever kicks a dead dog.”
